New Collaborative Low Temperature Plasma Research Facilities Open for All Users:
Thursday October 31st Century Ballroom III, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Department of Energy, Fusion Energy Science has funded two collaborative plasma research facilities that are being hosted at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratories (PPPL) and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) to offer collaborators from the international low-temperature plasma community access to world class capabilities and expertise at these institutions. An overview of these capabilities will be described and information on access to these facilities will be provided.
Forum on the Discovery Plasma Science category of the APS-Community Planning Process:
This CPP forum will be held Tuesday October 29th at 6:30 pm in the Century III ballroom
DOE is currently undertaking a long-range strategic planning activity encompassing the entire Fusion Energy Sciences portfolio. The Community Planning Process (CPP, https://sites.google.com/pppl.gov/dpp-cpp/home) is an opportunity for the plasma science community to provide input. It will advise FESAC, who is charged with developing specific recommendations. The CPP is organized in four categories: Magnetic Fusion Energy, Fusion Materials & Technology, High Energy Density Plasmas and Discovery Plasma Science. This forum will provide an update on the status of the Discovery Plasma Science category, as well as an opportunity to provide input and to discuss the future of our research field.
