Noah Hershkowitz Memorial Session
A special memorial session in tribute to the scientific legacy of Professor Noah Hershkowitz will be held Monday afternoon as part of the 2021 GEC. Hershkowitz was the Irving Langmuir Professor of Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He made significant contributions to low temperature plasma science and the GEC community over his long career. He was the founding Editor-in-Chief of Plasma Sources Science and Technology, and led that journal for 16 years. He was awarded the APS James Clerk Maxwell Prize for Plasma Physics in 2004, and the IEEE Marie Skodowska-Curie Award in 2015. Prof. Hershkowitz was a kind and caring mentor who advised 56 PhD students, many of whom have gone on to prominent careers in industry, academia, and government. He passed on November 13, 2020 and is survived by his wife, two daughters, a granddaughter, and former students around the world. Please join us for a memorial session honoring the memory, legacy, and impact of Prof. Hershkowitz. Please contact Dr. Scott Baalrud (baalrud@umich.edu) for more information
